Event "Observing the Sun in the city center of Heraklion!"
The Institute of Astrophysics, in collaboration with the Municipality of Heraklion, invites you to a special Sun observation event at the heart of Heraklion!
The event will take place at the Temple of Saint Titus Square on the weekend of 23 and 24 November 2024, from 11:00 to 13:00. Citizens will have the unique opportunity to safely observe the Sun through a special portable telescope designed for solar observations.
Through this activity, we are participating in the global celebration of the Heliophysics Big Year, a NASA initiative that highlights the Sun's impact on Earth and the solar system, from October 14, 2023 (the annular solar eclipse) to December 24, 2024, when NASA's unmanned spacecraft, the Parker Solar Probe, launched on August 12, 2018, will come within the closest distance to the Sun to date.

We are waiting for you for a unique experience and to discover the secrets of the Sun together, weather permitting!
