The 160th Conference of the Presidents of the Greek Research Centers and Technological Institutions was held on Monday, April 15, 2024, on the premises of FORTH, under the chairmanship of FORTH’s President, Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, who serves as Coordinator for the first semester of 2024.

The Conference was attended by the Deputy Minister of Development, responsible for Research and Innovation, Mr. Maximos Senetakis and the General Secretary for Research and Innovation, Prof. Athanasios Kyriazis, along with representatives of the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI), Presidents and Representatives of the Union of Greek Researchers, representatives of the Panhellenic Federation of Employees of Research Centers, and of the Panhellenic Federation of Associations of Employees of Research Institutions of Private Law.

Important issues of concern to the Research Centers were discussed during the meeting, such as the mapping and exploitation of the research results of the Centers, the need to strengthen Research Institutes with new job positions, issues related to the Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committees, the building projects that have been financed through the Recovery Fund, as well as Greece's position in the category of “Widening Countries” in the future framework programme of the European Commission. Legislative, labour and administrative issues raised by the representatives mentioned above, were also extensively discussed.
