The International Conference “Nanotechnologies and Bionanoscience, NanoBio 2023” (https://nanobioconf.com/), was held at the Atlantis Aquila Hotel in Heraklion, 11-15^th of September, 2023. The conference was co-organized by the Ultrafast Laser Micro- and Nano- Processing Group of the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), as well as the Nanomaterials for Emerging Devices Laboratory of the Hellenic Mediterranean University of Crete. The Presidents of the organizing committee were: Dr. Emmanuel Stratakis, Research Director at IESL, and Dr. Emmanuel Kymakis, Professor at the Dept. of Electrical Engineering of the Hellenic Mediterranean University.

The latest achievements and discoveries in the fields of Nanotechnology and Bio-nanotechnology were presented during the conference, by distinguished scientists, such as: Prof. Julia Greer (California Institute of Technology, USA), Prof. Nicholas Peppas (The University of Texas at Austin, USA), Prof. Sotiris Pratsinis (ETH, Switzerland), Prof. George Malliaras (University of Cambridge, UK), Prof. Rodrigo Martins (NOVA University Lisbon, Portugal), Prof. Manish Chhowalla (University of Cambridge, UK) and Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis (FORTH and University of Crete).

The conference’s high impact and interdisciplinary character acted as a pole of attraction for a large number of professors, researchers and students from leading European and Greek Universities and Research Centers, who honored our island with their presence.

Deputy Minister of Development, responsible for Research and Innovation, Mr. Maximos Senetakis, as well as the Minister of Research of Portugal Prof. Elvira Fortunato, announced the opening of the conference.
