A hybrid transnational interdisciplinary conference took place on December 21 and 22, 2021, in the framework of the Greek-Chinese cooperation.

Dr. Emmanuel Stratakis, Research Director at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser
of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas, was elected as a Fellow of Optica (formerly Optical Society of America, OSA) at the Society’s November 2021 Board of Directors meeting.

Τhe Institute of Petroleum Research (IPR) of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), founded in 2019 in Chania, is hereinafter renamed to Institute of Geoenergy (IG/FORTH) according to article 76 of Law 4864 /2021, published on 2-12-2021.

How does nature utilize the common repertoire of folds in proteins to differentiate their specificity, and ultimately their function? This long-standing and fundamental question was addressed in a study conducted at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Foundation for Research & Technology-Hellas (FORTH-IMBB).

The Objective of the project was to support Early Stage Researchers and to educate and train young scientists in the cutting edge technologies, in which the Institutes of FORTH excel both on the national and the international level, thus, contributing towards reversing of brain drain or, even better, at promoting brain circulation.

FORTH’s 9^th Institute, the Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) based in Ioannina, was re-established, following an amendment by the Ministry of Development and Investments and the adoption of a relevant provision of law, on November 30, 2021.

The 7^th meeting of China-CEEC Higher Education Institutions Consortium entitled «Promoting the Sustainable Development of Education Cooperation between China and Central & Eastern European Countries» took place on December 2, 2021.

FORTH/ICE-HT (www.iceht.forth.gr) has created the “Stratis V. Sotirchos Lectureship” to honor the memory of one of its most distinguished Researchers, Professor Stratis V. Sotirchos. This Award is supported by the “Stratis V. Sotirchos Trust Fund”, which has been created from donations by friends and colleagues.
