Satellite image change detection for rapid detection of landslides after a devastating rainstorm event-“Oceanis” in Crete, Greece
The IMS-FORTH Geophysical Satellite Remote Sensing and Archaeo-Environment Laboratory (Greece), in collaboration with the Centre for Applied Geosciences at the University of Portsmouth (UK), has made a rapid preliminary assessment of recent flooding and landslide devastation in western Crete, which took place after an unprecedented heavy rain storm-“Oceanis” during 24-26 February, 2019
Distinction at the Greek National Science Education STEM Competition
Significant distinction was achieved by PhD Candidates and members of the Biophotonics and Molecular Imaging Group of IESL, Michalis Orfanakis, Physicist and teacher of the General Lyceum of Makry Gialos and Gymnasium of Koutsouras Ierapetra and Mikis Mylonakis, Physicist, at the 10th Panhellenic Science Education STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematic) competition “Science on Stage Greece 2018”.

ELECTION OF DIRECTOR AT THE INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING SCIENCES OF FORTH

FORTH and the University of Crete win the 1st Hacking Health in Athens!
The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) and the Medical School of the University of Crete (UOC) participated in the first HACKING HEALTH HACKATHON in Athens and won the first prize, accompanied by 2,000 euros and the opportunity to participate in the Digital Transformation Programme of Roche Diagnostics Hellas.
A Cloud based platform for clinical decision support to the management of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD)
The Department of Biomedical Research of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology – Foundation of Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH-IMBB-BR) participates in the SMARTool project funded by the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program with approximately € 5 M. The project started on January 2016 and is currently on month 37, from a total duration of 42 months.
