The ceremony of the FORTH Award for Excellence in Academic Teaching "Vassilis XANTHOPOULOS - Stephanos PNEVMATIKOS" will be held at the main Hall of the old Parliament in Athens, on Νovember 29 2018, at 18.30 p.m.

The Governor of the Region of Crete Mr Stavros Arnaoutakis recently visited FORTH and met with Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, Chairman of the Board of Directors, for an update on the developmental initiatives the Foundation is planning to implement. Among the actions discussed during the meeting, was the establishment of an integrated, autonomous Conference Center on FORTH premises in Heraklion.

The 7th International Conference on “Transparent Conductive Materials, IS-TCM 2018” took place in Minoa Palace Hotel, Platanias, Chania, October 14-19, 2018. The conference was organized by Transparent and oxides group of IESL-FORTH.

The 67th meeting of the governing body of the European Research Council (ERC), the ERC Scientific Council, held at FORTH’s premises 15-18 October 2018, was completed with great success.

The 67th plenary meeting of the governing body of the European Research Council (ERC), the Scientific Council, will take place in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, on October 15-17, 2018. Τhe Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas is the host of this meeting, which is the second to take place in Greece. ERC President Prof. Jean-Pierre Bourguignon has visited Greece and FORTH in September 2017, for a series of meetings with ERC Grantees.

The 1st Interdisciplinary International Conference on Nanotechnology and Bionanoscience “NanoBio 2018”, was successfully organized in Atlantis Aquila hotel, Heraklion, September 24-28 2018. The Conference was co-organized by Research Director Dr Emmanuel Stratakis, head of the Ultrafast Laser Micro- and Nano- Processing Laboratory of the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser, FORTH and Prof. Emmanuel Kymakis, Department of Electrical Engineering, Technological Educational Institute of Crete.

The Department of Biomedical Research of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology – Foundation of Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH-IMBB-BR) participates in the InSilc project funded by the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program with € 5.8 M for the next 3 years.

The International Committee for Documentation (CIDOC) of the International Council for Museums (ICOM) introduces and promotes documentation standards and processes of museum collections or other institutions and at the same time facilitates networking among curators, librarians and people engaged in recording, studying and managing collections.

A Program Agreement was signed on Monday 24 September by Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH) and Prof. Udo Helmbrecht, Executive Director of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), at the Historical Museum of Crete, in the presence of the Secretary General of Telecommunications and Post Offices, Dr. Vassilis Maglaras.
