Tackling Security Challenges of Emerging Technologies
The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) and the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) jointly organised the 6th Network and Information Security (NIS) Summer School from 16- 20 September 2019 in Heraklion, Greece.
6TH ENISA-FORTH jointly organise the 6th Network and Information Security Summer School
The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) and the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) jointly organise the 6th Network and Information Security (NIS'19) Summer School, which will be held between the 16th and the 20th September 2019 in Heraklion, Greece. The theme of the Summer School for this year is "Security Challenges of Emerging Technologies", referring to the security challenges and opportunities posed by new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, new Network Infrastructures (i.e. 5G), IoT applications, Machine Learning, etc.
Election of Director at the Institute of Petroleum Research of FORTH
Dr. Nikos Pasadakis Professor of School of Mineral Resources Engineering at Technical University of Crete was elected Director of the Institute of Petroleum Research of FORTH on August 01, 2019.

FORTH participates in a research program which aims to develop intelligent metasurfaces with programmable electromagnetic behavior, the HyperSurfaces.
The VISORSURF research project, coordinated by the Foundation for Research and Technology and funded by the EU, aims to produce a first-of-its kind material, the HyperSurface, which can sense electromagnetic waves impinging upon it and alter them in ways dictated by software.

The power of lasers has multiplied many times and they now have sufficient energy to cut and weld thick steel as used in heavy manufacturing.
FORTH and University of Crete win the 1st Hacking Health in Athens!
The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) and the Medical School of the University of Crete (UOC) participated in the first HACKING HEALTH HACKATHON in Athens and won the first prize, accompanied by 2,000 euros and the opportunity to participate in the Digital Transformation Programme of Roche Diagnostics Hellas.
