The Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) is organizing the international working meetings of the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics - ERCIM. The meetings will be attended by participants from 18 different countries and will be held from May 24 to 28 in Aldemar Knossos Royal Hotel in Hersonissos.

The meetings aim at promoting European research and development in the area of computing and applied mathematics. Special emphasis is now given to the research areas of bio-medical computing, world wide web systems and technologies, network security and electronic infrastructure. A special one-day meeting will also be held to discuss the 7th Framework Program for Basic Research and Technological Development with the participation of representatives of the European Commission.

FORTH has been representing Greece in the European Consortium ERCIM since 1992. ERCIM's members are leading agents from the fields of Computing and Mathematics from 18 European countries. An exceptional distinction for FORTH is that Mr. Stelios Orfanoudakis, Chairman of FORTH has been elected for the position of ERCIM Chairman for the two-year period 2004-2005.

It is worth mentioning that on the occasion of the 15th Anniversary of ERCIM, a Celebration event will be held in the evening of Wednesday 26 May in Aldemar Knossos Royal Hotel.
