Prof. Nikos Karamanos, (Dept. of Chemistry, University of Patras), collaborating faculty member at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, has been named as one of the most cited researchers worldwide, according to this year’s “Highly Cited Researchers” list from Clarivate, based on the widely recognized Web of Science database. The annual list identifies researchers who demonstrated significant influence in their field (top 1%) through their publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade.

Professor Karamanos’ lab explores in the fields of Biochemistry, Biochemical Analysis and Pathobiology of Extracellular Matrix (ECM). Special focus is given in the role of biomolecules in homeostasis, disease development and progression such as cancer, as well as their molecular targeting for the future development of diagnostic and therapeutic agents.
