The Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas at the DEFEA International Defense & Security Exhibition 2023
FORTH participated in the International Defense & Security Exhibition DEFEA 2023 on 9-11 May 2023, at the Metropolitan Expo Exhibition Centre, at the exhibition booth of the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation.
The prestigious International Neuroscience Conference of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), entitled "Cell Biology of the Nervous System", was held at the Fodele Beach Hotel, in Crete, from 8 to 11 May 2023.
Anastasios Pavlopoulos, Principal Researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (IMBB-FORTH) is awarded a Research Grant from the 2023 Human Frontiers Science Program. HFSP promotes international collaboration in basic research focused on the elucidation of the sophisticated and complex mechanisms of living organisms.
The Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas recently acquired the historic, two-story building on the corner of Averof & Zografou Street in Heraklion Crete, known as the French Institute.
Dr. Theophilos Ioannides, Research Director at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences of FORTH, was elected Director of the Institute on March 20, 2023. He was officially appointed as Institute Director on April 10, 2023.

The Hellenic Molecular Oncology Network (EDIMO) received funding of approximately 4 million euros from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0”.
The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xiao Junzheng, visited FORTH on Friday, April 7, 2023, accompanied by Ms. Zhang Dong, First Secretary of Research and Technology and other Embassy officials.
Major new funding from the European Research Council to the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of FORTH
Kostas Vlassopoulos, Associate Professor of Ancient History at the University of Crete and Associate Faculty Member of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of FORTH has been selected for funding from the competitive European funding programme ERC Advanced Grant 2022.
