The 67th meeting of the governing body of the European Research Council (ERC), the ERC Scientific Council, held at FORTH’s premises 15-18 October 2018, was completed with great success.

A recent elegant study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA (PNAS) by Dr Jonathan Jones (Prof. at the University of East Anglia, UK), Dr. Panagiotis Sarris (IMBB-FORTH and elected Prof. at the University of Crete) and Dr. Panagiotis Moschou (IMBB-FORTH and Prof. at the University of Crete) sheds light on the defensive mechanisms of plants.
FORTH hosts the Plenary Meeting of the ERC SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL
The 67th plenary meeting of the governing body of the European Research Council (ERC), the Scientific Council, will take place in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, on October 15-17, 2018. Τhe Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas is the host of this meeting, which is the second to take place in Greece. ERC President Prof. Jean-Pierre Bourguignon has visited Greece and FORTH in September 2017, for a series of meetings with ERC Grantees.
Dr. Papoutsi Postdoctoral researcher at IMBB/ FORTH awarded with the prestigious NARSAD 2018 Young Investigator Grant
Papoutsi Athanasia, a Postdoctoral researcher in the Computational Biology Lab (Poirazi Lab), Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) at the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), was recently awarded the prestigious NARSAD Young Investigator Award.

FORTH – ENISA: Signing a program agreement seals their excellent cooperation
A Program Agreement was signed on Monday 24 September by Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH) and Prof. Udo Helmbrecht, Executive Director of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), at the Historical Museum of Crete, in the presence of the Secretary General of Telecommunications and Post Offices, Dr. Vassilis Maglaras.
