The Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, is organizing the 2025 Researchers’ Night on Friday September 26, 2025, 17:00-23:00, simultaneously at two locations: at its central premises in Heraklion (100 N. Plastira Street, Vassilika Vouton) and at the premises of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of FORTH, in Rethymno (130 Nikiforou Foka Street). During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of science, research, and technology through a wide range of activities taking place in both cities.

The application process for the first cycle of the program “Crete Business Incubator – C Nest Accelerator”, implemented in the Region of Crete, has officially begun. To present the actions of this new program, an informative session will be held on September 4, 2025, in Heraklion. The C Nest Accelerator invites interested businesses and organizations to submit their applications for participation in the program’s first cycle. The program’s services will be presented at the first open event, which will take place on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 10:30 am, in the Vasileios Dougalis meeting room of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH).

The Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) will participate in the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), taking place September 6–14, 2025, with a strong and multifaceted presence that highlights its leading role in research, innovation, and technology transfer.

On Friday, August 29, 2025, at 20:00, a public outreach event will take place at the Science & Cultural Center of FORTH (Zografou & Averof, Heraklion). The event is organized within the framework of the radio astronomy educational program “RADIIO”, coordinated by the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing of the National Observatory of Athens (IAASARS/NOA), in collaboration with the Institute of Astrophysics of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (IA-FORTH).

The Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) is launching a new series of open events under the title “epikoinonITE” (a Greek acronym for: Science–Society–FORTH). These series will be of great interest to the general public, aiming to disseminate the research results and to connect scientific knowledge with everyday life and the core values of society.

The program will begin with “Contact Point”, an original series of public discussions, each time featuring a FORTH scientist and a distinguished artist. “Contact Point” brings Science and Culture into a Creative Dialogue, fostering open and constructive communication of science through art.

Once again this year, the PRAXI Network, coordinator of the Enterprise Europe Network Hellas, is organizing a B2B Matchmaking Event in Thessaloniki on Wednesday, July 9, in the context of the NANOTEXNOLOGY 2025 conference. The annual NANOTEXNOLOGY conference is a leading European event in the fields of technology, networking, and matchmaking. It explores the latest opportunities in emerging areas such as Nanotechnologies, Organic & Printed Electronics, and Nanomedicine.

Prof. Frances Arnold (2018 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry) will give the speech on Wednesday, July 9 at 20:00 at the G. Lianis Auditorium of FORTH (main building), in Heraklion Crete.

Following the successful launch of the PRAXI x Brookstreet Online Demo-series in April, we are excited to return with the 2nd Pitching Competition, taking place online, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 16:00.

The 2nd Summer School of the TWINN2SET project will be held from June 30 to July 4, 2025.

The Summer School includes a series of lectures, workshops and lab tours. For the second consecutive year, the Summer School is organized by the Institute of Geoenergy/FORTH in collaboration with the Technical University of Crete within the framework of the EU-funded project TWINN2SET (Twinning to Sustainable Energy Transition).

The Foundation for Research & Technology Hellas and the University of Crete are organizing a scientific symposium to honor Eleftherios N. Economou’s 85^th birthday, on June 30, 10:00-16:00. In the symposium “From electrons to elastic and electromagnetic waves” distinguished scientists will speak about basic principles and recent developments on topics where Economou has been involved in during his up to now career.
