The 2010 Onassis Foundation Science Lecture Series

Following the success and experience of the past decade, the 2010 Onassis Foundation Science Lecture Series will take place from 28 June to 4 July 2010 at FORTH premises in Heraklion. This year’s Lectures, organized by the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation and the Foundation for Research & Technology-Hellas are on Computer Science and will focus on Network and Information Security.

Advanced Multiphoton Confocal Microscopy facility established at IMBB/FORTH

The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas, announces today the establishment of its advanced Multiphoton Confocal Microscopy Facility. This state-of-the-art facility is currently the only one in Greece and the first of its kind in Europe.

This year, the Lecture is in the area of Computer Science, Information and Communications Technologies, and is entitled:
"The Interaction of Science and Society as Illustrated by the Internet"

European scientists receive funding from Seventh EU Framework Programme to develop novel therapies for inflammation-associated cancer.
Funding

A network of scientists led by the Foundation of Research & Technology - Hellas (FORTH), Greece, have been awarded a grant from the European Commission Seventh Framework Program, aiming to increase our understanding of how chronic inflammation in the body can lead to cancer. It is anticipated that this research program, code-named INFLA-CARE, for Inflammation and Cancer Research in Europe, will also lead to the development of novel approaches for the treatment and improved management of inflammation-associated malignancies, such as liver and colon cancer.
