A successful workshop was held online on Friday, 1 October 2021, aiming to highlight how imaging, applied from a wide range of diverse perspectives, enables researchers and scholars to survey, monitor or even reveal structures and elements related to ancient life, archaeological and historical sites, monuments and objects of art.

FORTH pioneers in disseminating new technologies and in strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship, by participating in the establishment of two new Competence Centers: The Hellenic Center for Additive Manufacturing (HCAM) and the Mediterranean Agrofood Competence Center (MACC). Both of them have been approved for funding by the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI). FORTH will provide the necessary infrastructure and know-how, with the aim of supporting innovation in key sectors of the Greek economy, as well as, promoting the country's competitiveness.

The Deputy Minister for Research and Technology, Dr. Christos Dimas, visited FORTH on Friday, July 23rd, together with the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Giannis Kefalogiannis and the MP of Heraklion, Mr. Maximos Senetakis.

The inauguration of the Hybrid Molecular Imaging Unit of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of FORTH took place on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 19:30, at the facilities of FORTH in Heraklion, Crete.

Professor Ioannis Vontas, Collaborative Researcher, Faculty Member at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of FORTH, was elected Director of the Institute on June 22, 2021. His official appointment is expected in the next few weeks.

The Secretary General for Research and Innovation, Prof. Athanasios Kyriazis, visited FORTH on Friday, July 9th, 2021.
