The Agreement was signed on Monday, November 3, 2025, between the Cultural Association “International Society of Friends of Nikos Kazantzakis – Hellenic Branch (ISFNK)” and the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), as part of a joint effort to preserve, promote, and digitally showcase the cultural heritage of Nikos Kazantzakis. The objective of the Agreement is the creation of the digital cultural project “European Routes of Nikos Kazantzakis”, an interactive cultural mapping platform that will connect—through advanced information and geospatial technologies—the places, journeys, and narratives associated with the life and work of the great Cretan author.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Greece, Mr. Arif Mammadov, paid an official visit to the facilities of FORTH in Heraklion, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, accompanied by Mr. Konstantinos Karamesinis, an official of the Embassy. The Ambassador was informed in detail about the Foundation’s activities, the individual Institutes’ research priorities, and ongoing international collaborations. Moreover, he was given a tour at FORTH’s research laboratories, where he had the opportunity to learn about pioneering projects carried out at FORTH, view impressive exhibits and interactive systems, and engage in discussions with researchers.

The official launch of the company’s new office in Crete was announced during an event held on Wednesday, October 15th, at FORTH’s headquarters in Heraklion. This milestone seals the collaboration developed between Greece’s leading research institution and the global technology leader in networking technologies, while highlighting Crete’s growing role as a hub for technology and innovation.

A courtesy visit was held by the new Board of Directors of the Economic Chamber of Greece – Department of Eastern Crete (ECG/ECD) to FORTH in Heraklion, on Friday, October 17.

The Institute for Mediterranean Studies (IMS) of FORTH participates in the celebration of the International Landscape Day (20 October), established by the Council of Europe within the framework of the European Landscape Convention (ELC), which entered into force on 1 March 2004.

The 14th International Conference on Knowledge Graphs (IJCKG 2025) will be held from Wednesday, October 15 to Friday, October 17, 2025, at the G. Lianis Amphitheater, located on the premises of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. The central theme of this year’s conference is “Knowledge Graphs and Large Language Models (LLMs)”, focusing on the exploration of the intersection between these two cutting-edge research areas and the opportunities for their integration.

The European Space Agency (ESA) and the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) are co-organizing the 7th Quantum Technology Conference, taking place on October 7–9, 2025, on FORTH’s premises in Heraklion, Crete. The evaluation process for the selection of beneficiaries to join the 1st operational cycle of the Crete Business Incubator – C Nest Accelerator has been successfully completed.

The procedure was carried out within the framework of the project “Provision of specialized services for the development and operation of a business incubator/accelerator in Crete to foster innovation in priority areas of the Just Development Transition Research and Innovation Strategy – LOT3 Section”, corresponding to Subproject 3 of the initiative.
