The «12^th Scientific Retreat», of the Foundation for Research & Technology - Hellas (FORTH) is organized on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 October 2019, in Patras, at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences including a ceremonial opening session on Monday October 14 at the Apollon Theater in downtown Patras city. The main objective of the Retreat, which is organized bi-annually in one of the cities hosting FORTH Institutes, is to provide the framework for scientific interactions between the research laboratories of FORTH, for oral and poster presentations of research PIs, postdocs and graduate students and discussions on interdisciplinary projects enabling exploration of synergy opportunities.

Technical Program

The Technical Program of the Retreat includes:

• Presentation of FORTH by the Chair of the Board of Directors
• Presentation of FORTH Institutes and Units by their Directors
• Plenary lectures from invited speakers in Precision Medicine, Petroleum Research, Space Research, Big Data Analysis and Archaeological Research & Practice (the latter in the opening ceremony)
• interdisciplinary sessions with presentations from FORTH researchers from various Institutes on innovative research carried out at the Foundation
• poster presentations by graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and PIs of research activities of various FORTH laboratories and facilities that provide the basis for fruitful discussions and interactions towards synergies.

Ceremonial Opening Session

Municipal Theater Apollon in Downtown Patras

The opening ceremonial session of the 12th Scientific FORTH Retreat will take place in the evening of Monday, October 14 2019 at the Patras Municipal Theater Apollon, a historical building of Patras city. The session will include presentation of FORTH by the Chair of the Board of Directors, a keynote lecture by Prof. N. Chr. Stampolidis, University of Crete & Director of Museum of Cycladic Art, the ceremony for the 2019 FORTH Employee Awards and a performance of the vibrato ensemble of the Polyphonic Choir of Patras.
